Learning with Purpose and Joy
-
First grade at Main Street Christian is a joyful and formative year, where students build confidence, strengthen core academic skills, and grow in wisdom and faith.
Our first graders learn within a combined Kindergarten and First Grade classroom, a rich multi-age environment that mirrors real-life relationships. In this setting, older students rise as leaders and role models, while younger students are inspired to grow in maturity, behavior, and learning.
Using the Memoria Press classical curriculum, our first-grade program offers a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, and biblical truth. Students are encouraged to wonder, reason, and communicate with clarity and care. This approach not only cultivates academic mastery but reinforces Christian character and a love of learning.
In this nurturing classroom community, students thrive—mentoring one another, celebrating progress, and experiencing the joy of learning as a shared journey.

First Grade Curriculum
-
In first grade, students begin their journey into classical learning with the Memoria Press curriculum—an intentional, time-tested program that emphasizes mastery, beauty, and biblical truth. With subjects like phonics, math, literature, copywork, and Christian studies, children develop strong foundational skills while learning to think deeply and communicate clearly. Each day includes meaningful routines like recitation, read-alouds, and hands-on learning, all within a nurturing, multi-age classroom designed to help every student grow in wisdom and confidence.
